Pasviktrail 2016

The days before the race were very warm and all the trails were icy. Frozen overflow on the river and the lakes. Stearing the sled most of the time not possible. The mood in the team was not very good, after one season running almost every day in this area the motivation was not as good as I was hoping for. The first leg to Vaggetem was crowded, a lot of other teams everywhere. The team behaved very well and disciplined. We didn't stay long in the first checkpoint. I wanted to go during the colder night as much as possible and then take a longer rest during the warm day. Worked out so far. Unfortunately Rex stepped into a hole and couldn't go on further right before the hardest part along the finnish-norwegian border with lots of ups and downs. The remaining 7 dogs continued slowly but steady.

25 km before the finishline Loke decided that it is enough now. Til then he was leading the team together with Jenna. I changed some positions, Loke in the back and Milka in the front. And there it was again, the big surprise. Milka is fantastic at races. She speeded up the whole team and so we managed to overtake the one and only other team that was possible to catch. Even if not all my dogs performed well we ended up on a good 6th place.
